Professional waterman Jamie Mitchell hails from New South Wales, Australia, and now lives in Oahu, Hawaii, with his partner, Cassandra, and their young daughter. He is known as one of the world’s most elite ocean athletes.
He started paddling at age 5 and eventually worked as a lifeguard, competing in lifeguarding paddling races in Australia. He was backpacking around the world and in 2001 stopped in Hawaii to watch the prestigious Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championships—one of the most grueling paddles races on the planet. He was intrigued—with the sport and the location—and entered the contest the following year and won. He continued to take first place in that race for 10 years in a row … and also made the move and became a resident of Hawaii.
Several years ago he decided to try big wave surfing and made headlines after tackling some well-known big waves like Nazaré in Portugal, Belharra in France, and Hawaii’s Jaws and Waimea Bay. He has been invited to some of the world’s elite big wave riding events, including the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational and the Titans of Mavericks paddle-in contest, and is currently part of the WSL Big Wave Tour.
Jamie’s list of achievements is long and varied. His sponsors include Quiksilver, Kaenon and KonaRed.

How did you discover Liquid I.V.?
Through Dr. Brad Thomas. I was having an appointment with him, and he gave me a few packets to try out.
How has Liquid I.V. changed your training regimen?
I feel that for those shorter-style sessions—up to about two hours—I really don’t need to take extra hydration when I drink Liquid I.V. Or if I do, it’s not nearly as much… which is really nice.
Other than training, how do you incorporate Liquid I.V. into your daily routine?
I actually try to have one Liquid I.V. every morning when I wake up. It’s just part of my daily routine now. Living in Hawaii, I’m always in the sun and water, so it helps me every day.
How does Liquid I.V. differ from other hydration products you’ve tried?
Well, it tastes great. It’s easy to use—I’ve never used a product that really, really works like Liquid I.V. It really does what it says, and it’s amazing how it keeps you hydrated and retains everything. And it’s been developed by doctors and scientists who have been athletes themselves. It’s a win-win in my book. I wish it was around when I was paddling the Molokai, as it would have been the perfect drink for that race.
